RFID Vehicle TRACKING
WHAT IS RFID VEHICLE TRACKING?
Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is the use of radio waves to read and capture information stored on a tag attached to an object. A tag can be read from distance and does not need to be within direct line-of-sight of the reader to be tracked. RFID technology has a wide variety of applications within the automotive industry, both for OE manufacturers and retailers. With the conception of Service Drive Concierge in 2008, MDL pioneered the use of RFID technology for dealerships by using it to help dealerships identify and connect with their guests. Since then, MDL has developed a whole suite of RFID-based solutions to help dealerships track vehicles and manage service processes.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
* REAL LIFE APPLICATION OF RFID TRACKING
RFID tracking provides a number of benefits through the use of low power, low maintenance real-time tracking. Deploying RFID tracking throughout your business in key places can:
- Provide real-time data and analytics of process flow and inventory
- Reduce labor and cost associated with manual tracking techniques
- Eliminate human error and discrepancies.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR AUTOMOTIVE DEALERSHIPS?
MDL’s RFID solutions use passive RFID tags that are affixed to the back of vehicles’ rearview mirrors. These tags are active only when they pass important checkpoints around your store, which are fitted with RFID sensors that activate and read the tags. When this happens, notifications are sent to your team to greet the guest, find the car, or deliver the vehicle. Our RFID solutions are designed to connect you to your dealership data— and your guests—more easily than ever before.
